"Lest You Be Deceived"

The first mark of deception is unbelief in the Word of God.

If you don't believe that the Bible is the Word of God, that it is the revelation of God to his people and is THE truth, then read no further here, the following will be of no interest to you.

If you don't believe what the Bible has to say about Satan, then read no further.

We Were Warned...
When Jesus's followers asked Him what would be the signs of His coming, the very first thing He said was:

"Take heed that you not be deceived. For many, will come in My name, saying, 'I am,' and, 'The time has drawn near.' Therefore do not go after them."
Luke 21:8

Deception
Having studied this for more than 30 years, I am convinced that the coming of the much-prophesied "Great Tribulation" is at hand. Just as Jesus forewarned, DECEPTION, is rampant.

Purpose Of This Blog
There are many sites on the internet with exhaustive information on all aspects of deception, but that's just the problem: they are exhaustive. The purpose here, then, is to put up information as concisely as possible.

If you can believe the mystic claims of the New Age Movement, then it shouldn't be a stretch to believe the warnings of Jesus that there is an adversary out to destroy you through deception.

In fact, He said, that will be the number one signal of the nearness of the end of the age.

What Are The Marks of Deception?

How does one recognize deception?

Satan showed his "M. O." from the beginning. What was the first sin? It was turning from the Word of God, and believing instead the deception of the devil.
"Did God say you'll die? You won't die..."

Satan does not come with banners announcing, "I am Satan coming to deceive you." Deception will always "sound good."

  1. The first mark of deception is rejecting the Word of God and believing a counterfeit.
Deception always includes enough truth to make it sound good.

  2. Most cult religions have a book or books that are revered beyond the Word of God.

  3. The veneration of a person, angel, "saint," or anyone other than God.
The Word of God makes clear that all worship, adoration and veneration must only be to God alone. Even angelic beings from heaven rebuked men who bowed before them.

  4. Satan attacks the deity of Christ.

  5. Satan attacks the virgin birth.

  6. Satan denies the inherant sinfulness of man and the need for a Savior.
Satan causes men to believe that they can be saved by their "goodness." This is the sin of Cain, the effort to bring our goods to God rather than bringing the sacrificed lamb.

  7. Satan fosters the belief that one can be saved by religion, ritual, rites, mysticism, etc.
Jesus said "you must be born again."

  8. There will usually be a man to whom the followers look for "truth," rather than the Word of God.
The deceit lies in the fostered belief that the Bible is too hard to understand, therefore the submitting of their souls and minds to a man who can explain it to them.

Definitions

I'll be adding more definitions as I continue my research.

Aura

In metaphysics, an aura refers to the energy field emanating from the surface of a person or object. Seen as cascading color, it may be held to represent soul vibrations, chakric emergence, or a reflection of surrounding energy fields. When psychics report on the aura, they provide information concerning a person's character, their spirit guides, and their past-lives.

Chakra
A Sanskrit word meaning “wheel.” A chakra is supposedly any of the seven “body centers” that are considered sources of energy for psychic or spiritual power. The crown chakra is supposedly the seventh center, located at the top of the head, which radiates out to the universe.

Channeling
Channeling is receiving communications from spirits.

"There shall not be found among you ...a consulter with familiar spirits ... For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord.”
Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Karma
Sanscrit for “action” or "deed" in Indic religions. It is understood as that which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect. The theory of Karma is a fundamental doctrine in Buddhism. It was prevalent in India before the advent of the Buddha, but it was the Buddha who explained and formulated this doctrine in its complete form. Karma states that the effects of all deeds create past, present, and future experiences, thus making one responsible for one's own life, and the pain and joy it brings to him/her and others. Karma extends through one's present life and all past and future lives as well.

"It is appointed to men ONCE to die, and after this the judgment."
Hebrews 9:27

Medium
A medium is someone who serves as an intermediary between the living and the dead. One who contacts spirits.

"And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people."
Leviticus 20:6

Metaphysics
The study of any question about reality which cannot be answered by scientific observation and experimentation. Metaphysics is the philosophy which systematically investigates the nature of first causes or principles of all existence, ultimate reality, knowledge, being and the nature of the universe. It includes the relationship between mind and matter, substance and attribute, and, fact and value. It is the philosophical study of being and knowing.

"Beware lest anyone seduce you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ."
Colossians 2:8

Mysticism
Mysticism, from the Greek “mystikos,” is “seeing with the eyes closed.” It is belief in the possibility of union with Divine Nature (of any name,) and trust in spiritual intuition as a means of acquiring knowledge of Mysteries inaccessible to intellectual apprehension. In areas of the occult and psychic realms it denotes an additional domain of esoteric knowledge and paranormal communication.
miriams-well.org/Glossary/index.html

Sanskrit
Sanskrit is the ancient language of Yoga, a classical language of India. It’s a liturgical language of Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Jainism. It is widely used as a ceremonial language in Hindu religions and rituals in the forms of chants and mantras.

Spirit Guide
Spirit guides are persons who have lived many former lifetimes, paid their karmic debts, and advanced beyond a need to reincarnate. Each is assigned to watch over an incarnate person, not only on this Earth, but on many other planets throughout the universe.

"A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them."
Leviticus 20:27

Spiritualism
Spiritualism is the belief that the dead survive as spirits which can communicate with the living, especially with the help of a third party, called a medium. It’s the practice of communicating with discarnate beings who once lived an earthly life.

“Spiritualism is the masquerade of demonic forces, who pretend to be departed spirits with the intent of deceiving through the power of Satan those foolish enough to believe the testimony of demons in preference to the authority of the Word of God Himself."
Walter Martin, Kingdom of the Cults, Bethany House Publishers, Minneapolis, MI, 1996, p. 228

The Spiritualist Church
Spiritualist churches are places of worship for the practitioners of Spiritualism. The Spiritualist service is usually conducted by a medium. They attempt to contact the spirits of the dead, which is known as “opening up.”

Reiki

Reiki started in eastern mysticism
The name Reiki comes from two Japanese characters that describe the energy itself. Rei means 'spirit' and ki, means 'life force energy.'

It is defined as a specific kind of “universal healing energy” that was rediscovered by a Japanese doctor, Mikao Usui, founder of the Usui System of Reiki, in the 19th century. Dr. Usui was indoctrinated from early childhood into eastern mysticism, having entered a Tendai Buddhist school at the age of four.

Later he went on to study in Japan, China and Europe. He was also a member of the Rei Jyutu Ka, a metaphysical group dedicated to developing psychic abilities.

As a spiritualist, Usui spent much time meditating on Mt. Kurama where he had received his early Buddhist training. He enrolled in Isyu Guo, a training course sponsored by the Tendai Buddhist Temple. It was during this training that the “Reiki energy” entered his “crown chakra” (energy center at the top of the head).

Usui trained several disciples including, doctor Chujiro Hayashi. Hayashi initiated and trained Mrs. Hawayo Takata, who brought Reiki to the United States. Mrs. Takata claimed that she had been appointed Grandmaster of Reiki through the lineage of Mr. Chujiro Hayashi.

The countries of the far east are steeped in mysticism and the worship of plural gods, from which most “New Age” practices have emanated. Their teachings are in direct contradiction to the teachings of the Judeo-Christian Bible. The Judeo-Christian Bible forbids all forms of spiritualist contact with the dead, or with the many spirits invoked in mysticism and “channeling.”

"When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations.

There shall not be found among you anyone who passes his son or his daughter through fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or an observer of times, or a fortune teller, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or one consulting spirits, or a wizard, or one who calls up the dead.

For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you."
Deuteronomy 18:9-12

What they claim:
Similar to other “New Age” practices such as acupuncture and yoga, Reiki teaches that unseen “energy” paths exist throughout the body that need only be charged with positive energy to restore each network of pathways and to restore health to the body.

Reiki is a form of Tantric magic studied by Dr. Mikao Usui during his Buddhist retreat and fast, during which he studied Buddhist Tantric texts. Tantra has its origin in tantric yoga, in which sexual “energy” is manipulated in an effort to attain “union” with God or with the “Supreme Self,” the "divinity" within.

The lie: "You shall be as gods..."
Genesis 3:5

Reiki practitioners claim that they act as “channels” for Reiki energy, which supposedly flows from the universe through their bodies to specific parts of the body in order to facilitate healing. It is claimed that no-one has the ability to practice Reiki if they have not been initiated by a Reiki Master.

"Beware lest anyone seduce you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ."
Colossians 2:8

Channeling
In some traditions, Reiki energy is believed to enter the initiate through the crown chakra (energy source at the top of the head,) fill the initiate's aura and flow through her or his hands into the body of the recipient. In other traditions, it is said to enter through the root chakra, fill the aura, become centered in the heart chakra, and flow out through the initiate's hands. The Reiki energy is said to be "intelligent" energy which "knows what to do," or "where it is needed." Some teach that Reiki spirit guides keep watch over Reiki energy and assist the practitioner.

“Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy. It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away. In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.”

The recipient is asked to lie down and relax. The practitioner then acts as a channel for Reiki energy.

"Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God."
Leviticus 19:31

Reiki Attunement
Reiki is purported to be a life force that can only be channeled by someone that has been attuned to it. Reiki is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during an attunement process which opens the crown, heart, and palm chakras (centers) and creates a special link between the student and the Reiki source. The attunement energies are channeled into the student through the Reiki Master. The Reiki attunement is a powerful spiritual experience. The process is guided by the Reiki or god-consciousness, and makes adjustments in the process depending on the needs of each student. The attunement is also attended by Reiki guides and spirit beings who help implement the process. Many report having mystical experiences involving personal messages, healings, visions, and past life experiences. Students often report experiences involving opening of the third eye, increased intuitive awareness, and other psychic abilities.

"And the soul that turns after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul...”
Leviticus 20:6

Used with other “New Age” practices
Like most “New Age” healing techniques, practitioners vary their practice and combine it with other practices such as the use of crystals, magic incantations, group energy channeling, and spiritualism that includes the taking over of the body by one’s “guide.”

Quote from a Reiki practitioner“Reiki can by used to develop and strengthen your connection to spiritual beings .... I suggest when using this technique, you focus on only connecting with enlightened beings or with God ...By enlightened beings, I am referring to those who are one with God, free of all ego and filled with compassion and wisdom. These include Jesus Christ, Mother Mary, the Holy Spirit, the Archangels, Quan Yin, Krishna, Buddha, and others.”
http://www.reiki.org/Online/June02/JuneNL02.htm

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'”
John 14:6

Satan’s purpose from the very beginning is to oppose the Lord Jesus Christ and suggest that what He said is not true. Jesus said the way is narrow, through him alone. Satan says it’s wide, through any other “enlightened” ones.

According to Jesus, you can NOT go through angels, Krishna, Buddha, Mother Mary, or ANY other “enlightened” ones.

This is making Jesus a liar. It’s heresy.

Marianne Williamson

"New Age" teacher Marianne Williamson, pastor of Church of Today in Warren, Michigan co-founded the Global Peace Alliance of New Age leaders with Neale Donald Walsch, another New Age guru who claims his "god" defines fear as "the thought system of those who collectively oppose (his) New Age concepts."

Walsch also said his “god” stated “the era of the Single Savior is over,” a direct affront to the Bible which reveals the single Savior who gave his life for the salvation of "whoever believes."

Marianne Williamson is completely devoted to systematically teaching "A Course In Miracles" on Oprah Winfrey's "Oprah and Friends XM Radio channel. "

"A Course In Miracles" is the compilation of revelations received through demonic channeling by Dr. Helen Schucman of "The Foundation for Inner Peace." The late Dr. Schucman, an atheist, claimed she "received" the three-volumes over a period of seven years, from an "inner voice" who named itself "Jesus Christ," and who told her he was going to correct errors in the Bible. Interestingly, Schucman spent the last two years of her life in "the blackest psychotic depression I have ever witnessed," said a psychologist who knew her.

"A Course In Miracles" systematically indoctrinates people into a New Age mystical mindset. The underlying theme of the course is Hinduism, disguised in Christian terminology. The course is very seductive, using Biblical terms and twisting and perverting their meanings with metaphysical New Age occultism. It teaches the heresy that "all roads lead to God in the end," a direct affront to the statement of Jesus Christ that "no one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

Fear
Marianne Williamson has stated that the chief purpose of "A Course in Miracles" is “the dismantling of a thought system based on fear.” Reading further it becomes clear that she's referring to dismantling the traditional teachings of Biblical Christianity.

The Bible states, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom," (Psalms 111:10)

Williamson is committed to teaching the gullible that that simply is not true.

So! The Bible says wisdom is found in the fear of the Lord.
Williamson says it is not.
Who are you going to believe?

Williamson does, however, capitalize on the word "fear," saying that it is "fearful" and "unloving" to deny the divinity of humanity. She says it is "fearful and unloving" not to see everyone as "Christ." I don't know about you, but I am certainly not Christ.

Metaphysical gobbledygook
In her book, "A Return to Love," p.28, she writes, "If you go deeply enough into your mind, and deeply enough into mine, we have the same mind. The concept of a divine, or 'Christ' mind, is the idea that, at our core, we are not just identical, but actually the same being. 'There is only one begotten Son' doesn't mean that someone else was it, and we're not. It means we're all it. There's only one of us here."

So according to Williamson, there is no "only-begotten Son." But the Bible makes it clear there is ONE:

"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God"
John 3:18

Williamson says WE are all God's "only-begotten."
God says Jesus is the ONLY-begotten.
Who are you going to believe?

Separation
Williamson denies our separation from God saying, "we cannot separate ourselves from God no more than the wave can separate itself from the ocean."

God says:
"But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear."
Isaiah 59:2

Who will you believe?

Subversion
According to Williamson, "We are here to participate in a glorious subversion of the world's dominant, fear-based thought forms." She chose well the word "subversion," because the aim of this "course" is the very subversion of the Word of the living God. And as Schucman before her, her end will teach her what the fear she denied is all about.

No Atonement Needed?

One of the hallmarks of Satan's workings is to assail the very atonement in which Christ died for sinners.

Heresy:

A “slain Christ has no meaning.”
A Course in Miracles, Text, p. 425

“The journey to the cross should be the last ‘useless journey.’”
A Course in Miracles, p. 52

“The Atonement is the final lesson he [man] need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation.”
A Course in Miracles, p. 237

"The full awareness of the Atonement, then, is the recognition that the separation never occurred."
A Course in Miracles, Text, p. 98

“Do not make the pathetic error of ‘clinging to the old rugged cross’. The only message of the crucifixion is that you can overcome the cross. Until then you are free to crucify yourself as often as you choose. This is not the Gospel I intended to offer you.”
A Course in Miracles, Text, p. 52

The Truth:

"In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atonement for our sins."
1 John 4:10

"In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins..."
Ephesians 1:7

"...without shedding of blood there is no remission."
Hebrews 9:22

"...knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ..."
1 Peter 1:18-19

"For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit..."
1 Peter 3:18

"...being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth to be an atonement by His blood..."
Romans 3:24-25

"He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins."
Colossians 1:13-14

"Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ,
who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age..."
Galatians 1:3-4

* * "Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?" * *
Hebrews 10:28-29

A Course In Miracles -What Is It?

"A Course In Miracles" is the compilation of revelations received by demonic (spirit) channeling.

It was written by Dr. Helen Schucman of "The Foundation for Inner Peace," and in collaboration with Dr. William Thetford who helped in the publishing.

Although an atheist, Dr. Schucman claims she "received" the three-volumes over a period of seven years, channeling it from an "inner voice" who named itself "Jesus Christ," and who told her he was going to correct errors in the Bible.

It is viewed by some as a "New Age Bible."

It consists of three volumes:
The Text, a Workbook, and a Manual For Teachers.
The Workbook is 365 lessons, one for each day of the year.

The purpose of the course is:
"...to teach the Course's reinterpretations of traditional Christian principles such as sin, suffering, forgiveness, Atonement, and the meaning of the Crucifixion."
Foundation for A Course In Miracles, "Forgiveness," p. 4

The course uses common Christian terms twisting and perverting them with metaphysical meaning.

The underlying theme of the course is Hinduism disguised in Christian terminology. It teaches the heresy that "all roads lead to God in the end."

Says It All:
Fr. Benedict J. Groeschel, C.F.R. is a psychologist who was an acquaintance of Helen Schucman. He wrote:

"This woman who had written so eloquently that suffering really did not exist spent the last two years of her life in the blackest psychotic depression I have ever witnessed."

"A Still, Small Voice, A Practical Guide On Reported Revelations," by Fr. Benedict J. Groeschel, C.F.R., Ignatius Press 1993, p.79

There Is No Sin?

One of the teachings of the New Age movement is that there is no sin, that sin is just something our minds have made up, or that we were erroneously taught by “organized religion,” which they love to put down.

For example, A Course In Miracles, that Oprah Winfrey teaches says:

"There is no sin; it has no consequence.”
Workbook pg 183

"...sin is not real, and all that you believe must come
from sin will never happen, for it has no cause"
Vol 2, p. 179

Supposedly these words were channeled by a spirit identifying itself as “Jesus Christ” to Dr. Helen Schucman who wrote the 3-volume book.

Let’s compare them with what the real Jesus said:

"I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.''
Mark 2:17

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."
1 John 1:8

"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.."
Romans 5:12

"Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures..."
1 Corinthians 15:3

"...lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin."
Hebrews 3:13

"...when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death."
James 1:15

"Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded."
James 4:8

"If the righteous one is scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?"
1 Peter 4:18

"God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell..."
2 Peter 2:4

"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance."
Matthew 9:13

"This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners..."
1 Timothy 1:15

"In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atonement for our sins."
1 John 4:10

"Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts."
Romans 6:12

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 6:23

"Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear."
1 Timothy 5:20

"And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many."
Hebrews 9:27-28

"...if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins."
James 5:19-20

"So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.''
Matthew 5:29

"And if your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire."
Matthew 18:8

"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance."
Luke 15:7

"For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin. As it is written: 'There is none righteous, no, not one.'"
Romans 3:9-10

"...choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin..."
Hebrews 11:25

...let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us...
Hebrews 12:1

"...to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.''
Jude 1:15

Deepak Chopra

Deepak Chopra is an Indian doctor from New Delhi who wrote the New Age book, "The Third Jesus, The Christ We Cannot Ignore."

Chopra is a former leader of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Transcendental Meditation and Ayurvedic medicine programs. What Chopra is teaching is nothing less than pagan Eastern Mysticism which says that we are all “God.”

In his own words:
"The Christian seeker who wants to reach God is no different from the Buddhist," he claims.

But Jesus said:Jesus, on the other hand, said, "No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6) Who are you going to believe?

In his book, Chopra teaches that Jesus is a state of mind, a "cosmic Christ" and not the Son of the living God.

In his own words:“I want to offer the possibility that Jesus was truly, as he proclaimed, a savior,” Chopra wrote, “not the savior, not the one and only Son of God. Rather Jesus embodied the highest level of enlightenment."

Really?

What does this "highest enlightened one" have to say?
"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God."
John 3:18, in Jesus's conversation with Nicodemus

* Note: According to Jesus, then, Chopra is condemned.
If you follow Chopra, you will be likewise.

Even Satan knew Jesus to be the Son of God:
"Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.''
Matthew 4:3

Jesus's reply cut to the quick:
"But He answered and said, 'It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' ''
Matthew 4:4

Spirit of Antichrist
Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either...
John 2:22-23

The Bottom Line
Chopra gives hope to the dying that they will not die, and hope to the living that they can live forever in health. But it's a false hope steeped in mysticism and gibberish. Even though his patients died while he was claiming he had given them health, he maintained his position.

He charges $25,000 per lecture performance, where he spouts out a few platitudes and give spiritual advice while warning against the ill effects of materialism. Yet he lives in a $2.5 million house in La Jolla, California, where he parks his green Jaguar.

Barbara Marx Hubbard

Barbara Marx Hubbard believes that humanity has "come to possess the powers that we used to attribute to the gods."

Hubbard is a "New Age" heretic who claims to receive knowledge from her channeled "Christ." In a lecture at Texas A & M University, September 11, 2002, she said this spirit gave her the words, "Evolve or die."

The Shift
“The Shift” is the change humans must make, transitioning themselves to the next stage of human evolution. "The Shift" takes place when one turns from the God of the Bible and focuses on the divinity within. Those who refuse to acknowledge themselves as “God,” will be eliminated by “the selection process.”

Peace Plan For Planet Earth
According to Hubbard, the salvation of this planet will be implemented by the masses accepting “The Shift” as they move into "Conscious Evolution."

Summary:
If you don't "evolve," you're going to die.
If you don't make "The Shift" you will be eliminated.

The Lie
It's the exact same deception as in the beginning: man has to "shift" into divinity.

Satan told Eve that if she rebelled against what God had explicitly said, and instead followed HIS (Satan's) dare, she would NOT die as God had told her, but she would instead become "as God."

"And the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be as God, knowing good and evil.''
Genesis 3:4-5

Eve and Adam made "The Shift," and we've been paying for it ever since.

Definition: Conscious Evolution
The teaching that humans have the potential of being co-creators with "Spirit" and that humankind has attained unprecedented powers to affect, control and change the evolution of life on Earth. Hubbard suggests it may set the framework for a “meta-religion,” an all-inclusive religion in which the great faiths and wisdom traditions can contribute their unique gifts to the conscious evolution of humanity, with the common goal being the emergence of a humanity capable of co-evolution with nature and co-creation with Spirit.

Eckhart Tolle Heresy

"New Age" author and counselor Eckhart Tolle wrote "A New Earth, Awakening To Your Life's Purpose."

His esoteric philosophy states that everything comes from an impersonal and immaterial "life force" which then expresses itself in material form, and that humans are part of that expression. He urges the "enlightened" to become aware of their oneness with this "universal life force," and that man's purpose in life is to discover that he is an expression of this "life force."

Eckhart Tolle denies the existence of sin, which of course makes the death of Christ on the cross unnecessary.

The Word of God:
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

The lines are very clearly being drawn between Biblical Christianity and the emerging heresies deceiving all who reject the authority of the Word of God.

Over two million people from 139 countries have participated with Oprah Winfrey and Eckhart Tolle in an internet seminar covering each chapter of his book.

Perhaps the most arrogant heresy against the living God is Tolle's statement:
“The ultimate truth of who you are is not I am this or I am that but I am.”

Why is using the term "I am?" the greatest heresy?
Because that's the Name God has revealed is His own:
"Then Moses said to God, 'Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, The God of your fathers has sent me to you, and they say to me, What is His name?' what shall I say to them?'' And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM.'' And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, `I AM has sent me to you.' ''
Exodus 3:13-14

Jesus revealed who He is, and when the unbelieving Jewish leaders heard what He said they were so incensed that they tried to stone Him. Hear what He said:

"Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.'' Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the Temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by."
John 8:58-59

Oprah And The Shift

Perhaps one of the most dangerous false teachings in our day is the program Oprah is doing with "New Age" author, Marianne Williamson. In an environment of warm-sounding words conveying enticing promises, Oprah's "The Shift" is suggesting to unsuspecting minds that society can improve itself and save the world NOT through the only Savior God has given mankind, but rather by finding "the Christ within."

"The Shift" teaches moving from one position to an entirely different one. It counsels one to shift one's awareness away from one's self and one's ego, to the collective "Christ consciousness," or that "Christ within."

Thus, "The Shift" is enticing its followers to shift their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and LORD, to a New Age heresy of finding divinity within one's self.

In the Olivet discourse, Jesus's speaks of the last days:
"For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand."
Matthew 24:24-25

Oprah's Response To Jesus

Oprah Winfrey has perhaps the largest audience in the world. She's attractive, charming, and much loved. Her mostly-women followers are enamored with her. She has an endearing "one of us" personality, and many of her viewers hang on her every word.

Oprah Winfrey, however, has become a magnet leading countless persons down the road of deception and ultimate destruction.

The Word of God:
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 14:6

And again:
"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.''
Acts 4:12

Oprah's statement on public television before millions:
"There couldn't possibly be just one way."

And again:
“Jesus cannot be the only way!”

If Jesus said He is the ONLY way, and Oprah says He is NOT, who are you going to believe?

Harry Potter

What would you say if someone told you that YOU are an abomination to God?

I'll never forget the day I was told that, because it was to change my life forever. To a statement like that, one can either go into self-defense, or one can investigate the claim. I investigated it. That was 32 years ago, and there's no way I could adequately thank the one who said that to me. Because it changed my life.

I was a very troubled young person, and the means I took to search out what might help me was the only means I hadn't yet pursued - the world of the "occult." I define "occult" as anything having to do with the psychic world, fortune tellers, mediums, astrologers, etc, etc. I never connected the two -- that while I was investigating these things my life was falling apart. The story ends, or rather begins, when I was told I was an abomination to God.

And the fact is, I WAS.

Religion was the last thing on my mind, because I had been raised in a very legalistic church, and nothing I did or tried within that context had helped me. So I was looking elsewhere.

Now I'm going to put that story on pause, it's a very long story, but I need at this time to get back to the point. The point is, the last in the series of Harry Potter books is due to be released. If you are at all interested in pursuing the discussion with me, I invite you to email me. Otherwise, all I'll say about it is that anyone getting involved in any occult practice IS an abomination to God and there are very terrible consequences.

Hey, don't get mad at me, I didn't write The Book. But I have come to know its Author, and there's nothing in life more important to me now, than helping others to come to know him too. I'm no longer troubled, I have "the peace that passes all understanding." I've found the meaning to life, the purpose for which I was put here, and the joyful privilege of walking with the One who called me. C'mon along with me. It's an awesome adventure.

Here's the reference:

"There shall not be found among you anyone who:
makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire,
or who uses divination,
or an observer of times (astrology),
or an enchanter,
or a witch,
or a charmer,
or a consulter with familiar spirits (a medium),
or a wizard (magician)
or a necromancer (one who contacts the dead).

For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord"
Deuteronomy 18:10-12

The Shack

"The Shack" is a novel written by William P. Young who is a former office manager and hotel clerk in Gresham, Oregon.

In the story, Jesus is portrayed in the form of a Jewish man who admits that he isn't really THE way, THE truth, and THE life, but perhaps the BEST way to God.
God the Father is portrayed as a black female who says SHE has devotees of many beliefs, many religions, many faiths.

When the central character asks "god" what it means to be a Christian, "god" says: “'Who said anything about being a Christian? I’m not a Christian."

Anyone familiar with the Word of God and the "wiles of the devil" need read no further, that would be enough. For everyone else, read on:

The Book
The Shack is a work of fiction that very cleverly challenges the Biblical tenets of Christianity. It is an entertaining story that holds the reader's attention as an easy read, but it subtly undermines the Christian faith by reinventing God and his Son Jesus into something that is not recognizable from the Bible. The God portrayed in this book is NOT the God of the Bible. The “Jesus” of The Shack is NOT Jesus Christ of the Bible, because the "god" of The Shack speaks things that are diametrically opposed to the holy Scriptures.

This is nothing more than another Satanic assault on the God of the Bible, redefining and belittling the central doctrines of the fall of man and the redemption accomplished in the bloody atonement of Jesus upon a cruel cross on Golgotha.

If this story had been about Allah, if Allah were portrayed as a white female, the author would have hell to pay. Yet there are obviously no lengths too vulgar to be hurled against Christianity.

The writer of Galatians considered altering the Gospel so serious that he states his warning twice in one place:

"I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed."
Galatians 1:6-9

This book, The Shack is the epitome of man forming god in his own image, a feel-good denial of the hard truths of fallen humanity and its need for redemption. It appeals to the emotions, to the fallen, carnal nature. It is spiritual pornography.

"Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man.”
Romans 1:21-23

The Shack -The Story

The central character, Mack, had a 6-year-old daughter who was brutally murdered. He receives an invitation to meet with someone called "Papa" at the shack. "Papa" turns out to be "God" who miraculously transforms the shack into a warm and welcoming setting where they can just relax and shoot the breeze.

This book is an insult to the glorious God of heaven, the creator of all that is. Read on:

Mack meets God
God appears as "a large beaming African-American woman who crossed the distance between them and engulfed him in her arms....” p 82 and who is later called Elousia.

There is no justification for presenting the HOLY GOD as a woman. There are lines you do NOT cross. This misrepresents God in the minds of the gullible, and creates a warm and fuzzy picture that is totally false. This is heresy.

He meets Jesus
:

When they finally stopped giggling, the large woman... said, 'Okay, we know who you are, but we should probably introduce ourselves to you. ...you could call me what Nan (Mack's wife) does: Papa.'...
And I,' interrupted the man, who looked to be about in his thirties..., ' I am Hebrew....'"
Mack was suddenly staggered by his own realization. “Then, you are....”
Jesus? Yes...'"

This "Jesus" is “Middle-Eastern" and is dressed like a laborer, complete with belt and gloves, wearing jeans and a plaid shirt.

He meets a "Holy Spirit," stripped of his holiness:
Just as he was about to crumple to his knees, the Asian woman stepped closer and deflected his attention. 'And I am Sarayu (the Holy Spirit, Creativity),' she said... p 110
Sarayu is Sanskrit for “wind.” (Sanskrit is the classical language of Hinduism!)
"'Then,' Mack struggled to ask, 'which one of you is God?'“
'I am,’ said all three in unison.” p 86-87

This is a blasphemous perversion of the name God calls himself, "I Am," in Exodus 3:13-15, and which Jesus declares himself to be in John 8:58.

Mack learns another Gospel
Mack is then reeducated in his beliefs and corrected in his Biblical understanding of God.
It's the very same lie that precipitated the fallen human nature of man. Satan came to Eve and questioned what God had said to her:
"Yea, hath God said ...?"
Genesis 3:1

The Shack -Young's Perverse God

When we three spoke ourself into human existence as the Son of God, we became fully human. We also chose to embrace all the limitations that this entailed. Even though we have always been present in this universe, we now became flesh and blood.” p 98

All three becoming human is a derivative of the ancient heresy of modalism, the denial of the Trinity, the belief that, instead, God revealed himself in three modes, or forms. The truth is that the son of God did not EVER come into existence, the Son of Man did. Jesus was forever God. He alone took on humanity in order to redeem humanity. The Father did NOT take on a human form. The Holy Spirit did NOT take on a human form.

Besides the irreverent portrayal of God, the crass language spoken throughout the book, the diminished importance of sin, The Shack suggests to the mind of the reader completely unBiblical concepts, a God becoming man in three persons, two females and one male. This is heresy.

"Yea, hath God said ...?"

You can almost hear Satan chuckling as people gobble up this caricature of God that Satan himself has created.

Gender
This isn't something new, the New Agers have long tried to introduce a "god" who is not male. They have even produced a "gender-neutral Bible" that changes all the Scriptures which reference God as "He."

Jesus called him Father. That should settle it.

God calls Jesus Son, but...
...the god of the shack said: “I am neither male nor female, even though both genders are derived from my nature.” p 93

The book tugs on the emotions to explain it:
Hasn’t it always been a problem for you to embrace me as your father? And after what you’ve been through, you couldn’t very well handle a father right now, could you?” p 93

So the suggestion is that if you had a bad relationship with your earthly father, God has to be something other than Father so you can accept him. That's heresy. That's giving you permission to remake God into the image you want, thus denying what God has said about himself. It is not for us to make God acceptable to mankind; the purpose of the Gospel is to make US acceptable to God.

God has revealed himself to us as masculine. In his Word he is always addressed in the masculine. The idea that men cannot be comforting or kind, that this characteristic can only come from females is bunk. Furthermore, to change God into a female makes him a goddess, which is not found in Christianity but IS found in pagan religions.

"Yea, hath God said ...?"

Yes, Mr. Young, God DID say!

What follows is an unraveling of Bible doctrine.

The Shack -Perverting The Meaning Of The Cross

Papa didn’t answer, only looked down at their hands. His gaze followed hers and for the first time Mack noticed the scars in her wrists, like those he now assumed Jesus also had on his ...Jesus reached across the table and took Papa’s hands in his, scars now clearly visible on his wrists.” p 95, 107

Young is presenting the idea that the Father died on the cross with the Son and that they bear the marks of the cross to this day. p 95-95, 164 This is heresy.

When we three spoke ourself into human existence as the Son of God, we became fully human. We also chose to embrace all the limitations that this entailed ...flesh and blood.” p 99
To include the Father and the Holy Spirit in the humanity of the Son confuses the nature of the persons of the Tri-unity and their function to no end. The book teaches that all the members of the Trinity took human form at the incarnation, and this introduces a form of the ancient heresy of Patripassianism (the Father suffering,) the belief that God the Father became incarnate and suffered on the cross as the Son. Saying that the Father's "scars (are) now clearly visible on his wrists” is heresy.

Mack: “At the cross? Now wait, I thought you left him―you know―‘My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?’”

Papa answers: “You misunderstand that mystery there. Regardless of what he felt at that moment, I never left him” p 96

Point 1:
The fact that the Father DID leave Jesus when he hung on that cross, is a central and necessary element in the atoning work of Christ. Christ took the judgment of OUR sins on that cross, and the judgment on sin is separation from God. Jesus WAS separated from God, and the atonement is not complete without that element.

Point 2:
"Regardless of what he felt..." indicates that the Son of God could be wrong. No, the Scripture is correct and the Son of God was VERY aware that he was separated from the Father.
In taking the position that the Father died on the cross and suggesting that the Father did not turn away from Jesus on the cross when the sins of the world were put on him, but physically participated in it, is heresy.
In other words he is introducing a challenge to historic Christianity.

When Mack asks what Jesus accomplished by dying he is told:
"Through his death and resurrection, I am now fully reconciled to the world.”
The Shack's "god" explains that he is reconciled to “the whole world,” not just to the believer. p 192

The Bible teaches that the world is offered reconciliation to God, not the other way around, and this is no small difference. It must be taken by the faith of each individual or it is does not occur.

"He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
John 3:18

"Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God."
2nd Corinthians 5:20

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
James 4:4

The world is NOT reconciled. The reconciliation takes place in a personal act of faith in the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Shack -Are There Many Ways To God?

"Those who love me come from every system that exists. They were Buddhists or Mormons, Baptists or Muslims ...I have no desire to make them Christian, but I do want to join them in their transformation into sons and daughters of my Papa, into my brothers and sisters.” -The Shack's "Jesus" figure p182

Jesus is not the "best" way to come to God, He is the ONLY way:

"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
John 14:6

There is one God and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.”
1 Timothy 2:5

There is no other name under heaven, given among men, by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:12

Mr. Young, who are you to alter what God himself has said?

There is no plan B. Your book is heresy.

The Shack -Denying The Truth Of The Gospel

"'Who said anything about being a Christian? I’m not a Christian.'
The idea struck Mack as odd and unexpected and he couldn’t keep himself from grinning. 'No, I suppose you aren’t.'" p 182

You can almost hear the crackle of the wicked one as he denies the Christian faith.
"Christian" is defined as one who follows Christ.

"Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter."
1 Peter 4:16

It's obvious that Mr. Young is NOT a Christian, as he out-and-out denies this term.

"I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel ...But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
Galations 1:6-9

Mr. Young is presenting "another Gospel. " And this is heresy.

The Shack -Misrepresenting The Holy Spirit

Mack asks Jesus, “Speaking of Sarayu, is she the Holy Spirit?”

Jesus answers, “Yes, She is Creativity; she is Action; she is Breathing of Life; she is much more. She is my Spirit.”

Mack responds, “And her name Sarayu?”

Jesus explains, “That is a simple name from one of our human languages. It means ‘Wind,’ a common wind actually. She loves that name” p 110

Mack asks "the Holy Spirit" if he will see her again and he is told, “Of course, you might see me in a piece of art, or music, or silence, or through people, or in creation, or in your joy and sorrow.” p 198

The spirit that Jesus has is a she? This female "Holy" Spirit is also portrayed as an “it,” a force that indwells inanimate objects.

We're back to the heretical "goddess" and the "god is in everything" concepts again, right out the "New Age" movement.

Mr. Young, when you studied the Bible, as you report you did do, did you overlook this dire warning:

"Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come."
Matthew 12:31-32

The Shack -The Hierachy

“‘Well I know that there are three of you. But you respond with such graciousness to each other. Isn’t one of you more the boss than the other two …I have always thought of God the Father as sort of being the boss and Jesus as the one following orders, you know being obedient….’

‘Mackenzie, we have no concept of final authority among us; only unity. We are in a circle of relationship, not a chain of command… What you’re seeing here is relationship without any overlay of power… Hierarchy would make no sense among us.’”
p 121

"...though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, called by God as High Priest according to the order of Melchizedek."
Hebrews 5:8-10

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:8

"O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will."
Matthew 26:39

To whom, Mr. Young, was Jesus being obedient?

And another important question:
To whom, Mr. Young, are YOU being obedient?

The Shack -Is Christ Not Our Example

Seriously, my life was not meant to be an example to copy. Being my follower is not trying to ‘be like Jesus,’ it means for your independence to be killed.” p 149

Oh wait a minute! The teaching in Scripture is that we do aspire to be like Jesus and to follow and copy our Lord:

"For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps.”
1st Peter 2:21

For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
John 13:15

Paul says, “Follow my example, as I follow Christ.”
1 Corinthians 11:1

Mr. Young, you have out-and-out denied the words of the Savior, and in doing so have influenced countless others to follow YOUR heretical example and the example of YOUR "father." Your father would be proud.
